Every time I boot up my computer, I get a screen that has my name as the
"administrator" along with an Icon. Every time I have to click on my name or
the icon to get the computer to continue booting up to my desktop. How do I
change this so when I turn on my computer it boots right up to my desktop ??

Thanks

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users for this computer" box, click on the account you
want to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck

That worked great Nepatsfan !!
Thanks for the help. For some reason I thought that particular option and
the steps you take was only in Win 2000. I couldn't find it in the control
Panel under "User Accounts"

If you want to add that applet to Control Panel, go to this web
site and run the registry fix from line 1, right hand column,
Add Control Userpasswords2 to Control Panel:

Note: Some of the features of this version of User Accounts are
not available if you are running Windows XP Home Edition.

Well Nepatsfan, I might have spoke to soon about all thatb working so great.
Please take a look at another post named "AUTO LOGON" date--4-7-2006 at 4:55
PM PST. I entered a reply to that post that will explain to you the problem I
am still having and/or what happened when I entered the "control
userpasswords2" innthe RUN box. I still thank you for your support.

The only times I've seen this occur is when the computer is
running XP Home Edition and it's been configured to
automatically logon the built-in Administrator account. With XP
Home Edition, the built-in Administrator account can only be
accessed when the computer is running in Safe Mode.

When you see the error message, there should be an OK button.
Hitting the OK button should take you to the Welcome Screen
which will allow you to log on with your user account. Once
logged on, you should run control userpasswords2 again and put
the check mark back in the box on the Users page. Reboot and
see if the welcome screen is displayed.

If you're still unable to fix this problem, you can try booting
into Safe Mode.
Restart your computer and start tapping on the F8 key.
Keep tapping F8 until the Windows Advanced Options menu is
displayed.
Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and hit the Enter
key.
Hold down the Shift key until you see the Welcome screen
displayed.
Click on the icon for your user account.
Once the computer has booted into Safe Mode, do the following:
Go to Start -> Run and enter control userpasswords2 in the Open
box.
Click OK.
On the put the check mark back in the box next to "Users must
enter a user name and password to use this computer".
Hit the Apply button.
Now go back and remove the check mark.
Hit the Apply button.
In the box that pops up, replace Administrator with the name of
your user account.
Enter your password, if any, twice.
Click OK.
Restart your computer and see if it now logs on your account.

Good luck
