Logging on as old user

Recently had to reinstall the o/s on my machine (xp pro).
my old user profile is still out there yet it will not let
me log on as that person even though the computer name is
still exactly the same.

im stumped.
 
Hi,

When you reinstalled (rather than repaired, which would have saved your old
profile), you lost all the Security ID's associated with the old user
profiles. You cannot regain them. Log on as administrator and take ownership
of any files you wish to retrieve from the old user profile. Move them to a
safe location, then delete the old profiles. If you encrypted the files and
did not export a copy of the encryption key or create recovery agent, those
files are lost to you.
