Windows XP Home

I have been using this computer for over a year. When I start it or restart
it, it has always went thru the startup and directly to desktop without
stopping. Now all of a sudden it stops and it tells me to log in by
clicking my name. It takes about a minute after I click my name. I do not
recall making any changes. I did have to install a program called Microsoft
Net Framework SDK Package to make a game work.

Where did I go wrong? I did go to Control panel \ User Accounts and tried a
couple things there, but it still stops and I have to log in. Can anyone
point me to where I can get rid of the log in thing? Thanks in advance.

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users of this computer" box, click on the User you want
to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Rerun windows update. It will offer an update to .Net that will also
fix this isse.
 
Thanks for the help. I tried nepatsfan's first and it now starts without
logging in. Thanks again.

You should still rerun windows update for the .net update.
