We had our computer set up to have a choice for log on -
Jamey and Candy - but now I have a virus and to try to
repair I have to turn off the System Restore, and am
being told I don't have administrator privleges. How do I
get that? It is only the two of us on our own computer.
Thanks for any feedback. Candy

Ask whoever set up your account to make you an admin. Only an admin can make another admin.

Depends how your machine was set up. There is normally an Administrator
account which doesn't appear by default unless you boot in Safe Mode (Tap F8
every second or so when it starts to boot until you see a menu allowing you
to choose Safe Mode). Alternatively, you can hit Control+Alt+Delete once or
twice at the logon screen to get the option to type Administrator into a
dialogue box. However, if someone has put a password on the Administrator
account, and no other account has Administrator status, then you will have
problems getting in.

In general, the Administrator account should have a lengthy password, and
someone should know it. You can give Admin rights to other accounts by
adding them to the Administrators group (control panel, user accounts) but
it's safer to run as an unprivileged user, even though some software makes
that inconvenient at times.
