Hi,

I have just left my job and was attempting to cancel log
process when I start my PC. I went into settings and
selected 'Computer for Private Use' or similar, as
opposed to Network login.

I saved changes and now when I start my PC, it still asks
for a login User and password but will not accept
my 'old' network login details???
Any suggestions? I guess I need to know the User ID and
Password that Windows is looking for - there is no option
to cancel login.

Thanks,

Hi

After leaving a domain you may only use the machine local
accounts (that are defined on that machine).

How to Log On to Windows XP If You Forget Your Password or Your Password

If that doesn't work out, you might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:

.
I have had no luck unfortunately - probably my lack of
experience doing this sort of thing.
I am totally locked out of my computer, so any
suggestions may help -

I have tried selecting F8 and starting in Safe Mode but
still asks for a Password (for User & Administrator)
Also tried Restarting with Last known Good Configuration,
no luck and lastly, tried Control-Alt-Delete (twice
quickly) on login screen and Administrator with blank
password - no luck either.

Help!!

Taurarian,
Thanks for your help but this is still not working - I am
trying to bring up a command prompt window - how can I do
this from Start up?
I wish to try the following -
1. At a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and
press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User
Accounts application.
2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User
Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and
thenclick OK. 3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box
that appears, type the user name and password for the
account you want to be logged on each time you start your
computer. But can I do this from Start up??
