Log on screen

Under my name on the log on screen a message is displayed
with the number of unread messages. This number is
always 3 high. How can I correct this or prevent this
message from showing at all?

Download TweakUI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp After the installation go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>TweakUI>Logon>Unread Mail - uncheck that option.
