Hi Everyone,
does anyone know how to log on locally on a laptop if we bring it out
of the office?
If we switch from OurDomain to ThisComputer on the drop down menu,
which pass codes need to be entered? We need to install software while
we are away and the administrator pass codes that we use within the
office don't work.
Thanks!!!

You need a local user account or the local administrator account.

Ask your IT Dept. how they want to handle this. You would normally log
onto the computer locally ("This Computer") using the local
Administrator account. If you don't have the local Administrator
account password, get it from your IT people.

I'm the IT person. Our office is just a couple of people! I added the
laptop to our office domain myself. When I added the laptop to the
domain there was NO local password set for that laptop. Now, if I
switch to ThisComputer I don't have any pass codes to enter!

You mean you installed Windows originally and did not assign a local
Administrator password? Then it will be a blank. Even if you got the
laptops with XP Pro preinstalled, when you turned it on for the first
time you would have been asked to create a password for the
Administrator.

If you have forgotten it, use NTpasswd to reset it to a blank.

Then your local administrative password is probably blank.

If no password works at all you can do a search on the Internet for
resetting the administrative password. It can be done, I have been
there before.
