This is actually a serious issue Gary. I have not had a straight answer on
it yet. If you look in your event log it should have a bunch of event id
1000 errors, which has to do with roaming profiles. Except that we are not
using them.
Please someone from microsoft respond to this issue, we are running SP4 and
are expierencing unacceptable long logoffs or shutdowns. I know a lot of
posts mention a specific security update, if this is true then please give
us a fix or post a work around for your bloody security patch.
You may want to check the size of the profile of the user
(s) who are getting this problem. This is especially true
if they are roaming profiles and even worse if they are
drawing from a slow WAN link.
This was happening here at work with our VP and I looked
and noticed that his Roaming Profile was 500+ MB. One
errant outlook.pst file moved from the documents and
settings folder and now his profile is ~4MB and loads and
shuts down in seconds rather than minutes.
