Hi. I have my Welcome Screen off. I am also the only
person to use my computer so therefore there is only one
account, i have all my updates and to my annoyance i know
dont have the familiar Words "Welcome... windows is
starting" anymore its been replaced by a horribley ugly
LOG IN Box notoriously found on older win 95 to Win ME
Machines ITS HORRIBLE AND I WANT TO GET RID OF IT i just
want my pc to startup with out anything getting in the
way. I had previously found a user account i did NOT
create and deleted it, i doubt that had something to do
with it tho my main concern is that its cause of the
updates! How could i have got this its really upset me i
have No passwords to start my computer, Guest log in is
OFF and the welcome is off so whats happening I also get
an ugly looking box when i hit CTRL ALT DEL asking me
loads of options Ie, Lock computer, Passwords, Task
manager, Log off and shut down WHICH I also dont want as
i was trying to close a non responsive program and it
would not load TASK Manager :-( Its really getting on my
nerves I WANT MY OLD SYSTEM BACK! Please help it would be

First - Control Panel - User accounts, click on 'Change way users
logon', and check 'Use Welcome screen', click Apply

You can then if you wish automate one stage further so you do not even
need to see that - Start - Run the line
control userpasswords2
and uncheck the box 'Users must give a username.. . '; Apply and select
the user you want to be logged in automatically, and password to use if
any : that will then go direct to the 'loading your personal settings'
stage
