As I was running out of space I recently decided to upgrade my hard drive.
All has gone well with the installation, formatting etc., (this is where the
instructions became very vague) however being a bit of a computer 'half wit'
in my wisdom thought I would install a copy of windows Xp on the new drive
'G' then transfer files at my leisure. I now find that the windows
installation has changed the new drive to 'C' making the old installation
along with the password protected section innaccesible.

In hindsight, I now know that I should have backed up the My Documents
folder or at least removed the password protection ( I know the password
btw). Would also apreciate any help with transferring Outlook Express
address's and IE bookmarks.

thanks in advance, any help apreciated, as the old My Documents folder
contains many hours of valuable work.

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

As long as encryption isn't involved as a local administrator you can take
ownership. Explorer|"folder"|File|Properties|Security|Advanced|Owner and
take ownership.
