Log File Error Message

Basically, I get a message stating "An error occured trying to create the log
file" everytime i switch on my computer.
The only recent thing i have done which may have caused this is that i
deleted my temporary internet files recently because of problems with Adware
CDT on my system.
Any clues how to fix this?
I have tried system restore and this hasn't fixed the problem.

Run msconfig and use it to selectively disable your startup
tasks until you find the culprit that causes this problem.
If unsure what it is, post again!

Well I know that it is only Microsoft add-ons like MSN Messenger and Media
Player 10 which are effected. They can not remember personal settings or
find files. MP can not intrepret my 'my music' folder. I think Internet
Explorer may also be having problems remembering where cookies are as it
creates them but then doesn't use them when i revisit a site that i have ask
it to remember a password for.

- What exactly is your question?
- What are the startup tasks reported by msconfig.exe?
