I set my system up for dual boot. One installation of Windows somehow became corrupted. I a "repair" installation, but, to no avail. I then reinstalled WinXPPro totally on that windows partition. At the end of the installation, during the registration process, WinXPPro could not find my modem, so I clicked to skp the registration process, at which point, I am prompted to enter my password. There is only one password on my system, and I know it, and type it correctly, but XP keeps telling me that it is wrong and will not allow me to proceed

So, what is the answer, here

This is my home computer, no one else has ever touched it. The other installation of XPPro continues to function

I definitely will not pay some other software company the cost of the entire xp operating system for a password breaker - I'd just as soon wipe everything clean and start over again if I have to, but that is a time consuming effort - hoping for some simpler solution

Suggestions appreciated - both as to a solution and a possible cause
