I have to create a word template in 2000 for end users to
enter information in. I need find a way to lock the
styles so the end user cannot change them. So far I have
not been able to find a way to do this. I am hoping
someone can help.

Thanks
Bob

Depending on exactly what you want to do, the ability to limited editing,
including effectively locking styles, is a feature in Word 2003. It does not
exist in earlier versions of Word, however.

Thanks, can a word doc be created in 2003 with the styles
locked and then opened in Word 2000 and still have the
styles protected?

TIA
Bob

In Word 2000 you can't keep styles from being changed unless you severely
limit editing by protecting the document for forms. This is what Word calls
an "online form." Check this in help. For more about online forms, follow
the links at http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or

Chapman's series of articles.

Hope this helps,
