Locking presentation

The password protection still allows users from viewing the presentation as a
read-only. Is there a way so that the user cannot even open the PPT at ALL. I
want to be able to distribute the presentation as an .exe but with not an
ounce of possibility of the user looking at the ppt slides.

Are you sure you want to distribute it? : )

Hi,
You could use software like Winzip and the password protect feature to
prevent users from viewing the contents of the zipped files without the
correct passwords.
Hope this helps

I am not sure that encryption the zip file helps me... let me see if I can
explain this more in detail.

I am doing a presentation that has very complex animation (in so far as PPT
can do them) and I have to put the presentation on CDs so that my client can
distribut the Presentation at a conference. I want to be able to not allow
people to look at what I have done in PPT, but simply view the presentation,
hence the locking request. I need them to be able to view the pps or the .exe
file (which references a file and I don't think you can reference to a zipped
file). Anyhow, it's intellectual property protection that I am looking for
more than anything else.

The save as web option doesn't work because not all the animation functions
translate nor would it work saving as a pdf file.

Any thoughts?

Locking with password still doesn't protect me from the viewer going with the
"read it only" option. In which case, they can still open the file and look
around in them, even if they don't modify or edit... I need to be able to
prevent them from opening the file AT ALL, except to run the show in show
mode.

Basically, you need to put a modify password on the presentation, then. You
can do this in PPT 2002 or 2003.

In that case, I don't think that PPT is the application you're after. Maybe
consider using Director or Flash instead.

Oh, or look into things like
Articulate http://www.articulateglobal.com
Impatica http://www.impatica.com/
PowerConverter http://www.presentationpro.com/
