Locking a Word document

I am attempting to lock a word document, while still allowing some fields to
be edited. Any ideas!?

One solution is to use Text Form Fields (on the Forms toolbar) for the data
to be edited then locking the document.

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles.

If you mean that you want to be able to change field properties while the
document is locked for forms, you can't do that.

You can enter info into fields only when the document is protected. You can
have different sections that do not have form fields and are unprotected.
Track through the Chapman articles for more on this.

Hope this helps,
