Lock Down of ...

Hi All,

i have just purchased a wireless modem/router and have connected my son to
the internet. I have made sure that i have the proper tools protection i.e.
Zone Alarm Pro, and Mcafee Virus installed. What i need to know is how can i
make sure that i lock down the internet as far as sex sites etc are concerned?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter,

Most routers now allow for keyword and site blocking, check the router
control software. Log into the router and check for content filtering.

Thanks for the Reply.

Just another question i have got the router information and how to control
internet acess. The question i need answered is 1. If i set this up on the
source computer will it filter to computers connected to the source machine,
and do i need a Firewall - Antivirus protection on the other machines
connected to the source machine? 2.Would it be useful to install the google
popup blocker on the machine also.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Most routers allow you to specify if any given machines should not be
filtered, otherwise the filters should apply to all machines. One of the
benefits of using a router's blocking is that the end users cannot do
anything on their own machines to bypass the controls. I would still run the
Windows Firewall and an AV product on the connected machines. If you have
the systems updated, you already have a popup blocker in IE6 and there is no
need for the google toolbar.
