I'm using the local users and group snap-in to manage another computer in my
workgroup. Both computers are XP Pro and both computers have the same admin
account/password on them.

Under choose another computer, when I select browse, then enter the object
name (computer name), I am prompted with a username\password screen. At
this point I enter the admin account username and password and once done
correctly, the workgroup\computer name gets underlined.

I then click ok, finish and am presented with the error "Local Users and
Groups - Unable to access the computer pc1. The error was: Access is
denied."

Any thoughts on what could be causing this error.

Thank you.

Try entering the username as COMPUTERNAME\username where COMPUTERNAME is the
name of the computer you are trying to manage and username is a local
administrator on that computer.
