I removed my USB connections by mistake which caused the computer to reboot.
And now it does not recognize my user settings, sets me up as a temp "owner".
I seem to have lost my document files. System restore does not work. I get
message that the entry point cannot be located. Any suggestions for a novice?

Try a system restore to before you made the change. Start | All
Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore.

System restore does not work because the system does not recognize a point of
entry.

:

Create a new user profile, log into it at least once, then copy the data
from the old one. Another option is restore the data from a backup.
Always have a current and complete backup.
