local/network profile issue...

I support a Windows server 2000 native domain with XP clients.

Problem:
Sometimes when users log on to the domain, it seems that they are
logging into the local PC eventhough the correct domain is selected in the
"Log on to" box. Sometimes they do not get their "My Documents" redirected
and their mapped drives do not appear. They have to logoff and logon again,
sometimes a couple times in order to get their correct settings. This happens
intermittantly and is not restricted to certain users/computers. All the
computers
are on the same LAN so speed is not an issue.

GPO settings configured:
The "My Documents" folder is redirected using folder redirection GPO setting
on
the server. The "Number of previous logons to cache (in case the domain
controller is not availabe)" setting to "0 logons". The "Deny logon locally"
seting
for "Domain_name\Authentcated Users". The "Apply Group Policy for
computers asynchronously during startup" set to "disabled".

I verified that if there is no network connection then the Users can not
logon at all.
I also perform a GPRESULT and it appears that all GPO's are applied.

Is there another setting somewhere that I may have missed?

Following up on my previous post. I should have pointed out the following.

The policy setting "Always wait for the network at computer" is a local
policy set for each XP machine. This page may be helpful:

You can check out the last two paragraphs of item 26 on this page as well :

After rereading your post I have to ask how you "verified that if there is
no network connection then the Users cannot logon at all"?

Also, this is a question you might want to post to the Windows 2000 group
policy or Windows XP networking newsgroup.
