I am using XP Pro SP2 on a computer that several people use. i have created
a local group called "Accounting" to control access to a folder with the same
name. I next used the Security tab on the folder and added the "Accounting"
group with full access and removed all other groups by breaking the
inheritance chain.

When I try to open the folder as one of the persons in the "Accounting"
group, I get an access denied error message.

What am I doing wrong?

1. Make sure you leave Administrators and System with full control over the
folder...at least, I would.
2. Make sure you aren't also in a group that is explicitly denied permission
to the folder, as the most restrictive permissions will apply

If you added the user to the group while the user was logged on make sure
the user logs off and on again to update the user's security token to
reflect the current group membership.
