I am trying to network my local area connection to my
playstation 2. It tells me on every networking theme to
click on "allow other computers to connect through this
computer". When I go into this on the advanced tab it's
not there. Have tried to use network systems etc but
nothing has worked. Please help me
Do you already have a LAN ? If so please explain the configuration.
Connecting a PlayStation2 to an existing LAN should be very easy. Select the
Sony Network Adaptor / Ethernet but don't select the PPPoE option.
a) If the computers on your LAN obtain their IP addresses automatically
(using DCHP), then set up your PS2 IP address settings 'auto' or 'obtain IP
address automatically'.
or
b) If the computers on your LAN have manually configured IP addresses then
configure your PS2 to 'manual' and enter an IP address that is in the same
range e.g. if your PC's use 192.168.0.x (where x is different for each PC),
then set up your PS2 to be 192.168.0.y (where y is not used by any of the
PC's, don't use 0 or 255). Set up the sub net mask, gateway and DNS IPs to
be the same as one of the client PCs (not the ICS PC) on the LAN.
The above info may be enough to enable you to sort out the PS2 connection,
if not then post back here explaining how your LAN is set up (router ?, ICS
?, hub ?, switch ? internet connection ?) and I'm sure someone here will be
able to help. Connecting a PS2 to a LAN is just the same as connecting a PC
to a LAN. Except the PS2 can not act as the internet gateway.
