loading windows xp

i was told window xp dosen't perform well when loaded
over windows me....should i erase my hardrive
first.....if so....how do i do this.....thank you

Boot from the Windows XP CD-ROM - you may need to make some BIOS changes
first in order to boot from CD-ROM though.

Once you are into set-up, you can instruct XP to delete any old partitions
before the operating system installs.

It's been my experience that clean installs are much better than
upgrades.

The Windows XP setup process has all the tools you need to erase and
create partitions, so once you are ready to go, just boot from the CD
and follow the instructions.
