Has the overall performance of the PC dropped ? Some of what
you describe is normal, but shouldn't be visible as it happens very
quickly. Have you recently added any apps or changed drivers ?
You might want to use AutoRuns from SysInternals to check on
the Startups and Watchdogs your PC has running at startup.

It happens very slowly and very noticble. have updated music & video driver
recently . I am very very very much a beginner so need expailn things very
clear.
Overall pc performace has droppeed dramically recently.
I have no idea what auto runs is at all so like what on earth is that??

It helps to note whether you are a novice, so the answer can be
tailored to match your skills.

AutoRuns is a program that lists all the programs/services that the
PC loads up at boot time. Usually, these items appear in the tray
by the time display. They (Startups & Watchdogs) aren't always
necessary to be running.

From your description, I'd say a recent driver update is responsible
for the performance drop. The easies way to undo that, is go to
Device Manager, Double-Click the Video (or Sound) and when
the details box opens, click the Driver (TAB) and then click the
"Roll Back Driver" which will restore the previous driver for the
device. I would do Video 1st and reboot and see if the "Delay" is
gone, If not repeat for the Sound card.
