I use Longman dictionary software. but it is really slow.
it has tremendous data like text, picture, and pronunciation audio
data
I assume the slow is due to the hard drive access
If I loaded the data into the ram. It would be very fast
but I don't know how to do it
can u recommand any ram disk software under window xp or any recipe?

the following method might be recommanded. but if it is, it would be
done automatically when I reboot the window xp

1. copy the data in hdd drive to ram
2. load the program(longman dictionary) into the ram

Define slow. How big is the whole thing?

1. if i click the icon it take 5~8 seconds loading the program fully
2. If i serch a word. I can hear hdd access sound clearly

p.s I just found the information about the disk cache. and it's really
close to my opinion

How much RAM does your computer have? If you have less than 256MB,
there's your problem. If you have 256MB, try 512MB instead.

Wow. You certainly have more than enough memory. Do you have lots of
other programs and/or processes running in the background? Perhaps that
is the issue.
