I am going to set up a new computer with many new programs, printers, etc,.

Should I reboot before I install next item? More than once?

Scott

I just bought a new computer for my business. Gateway 700 GR from Bestbuy.

I use this desktop for Cad, Word, Quickbooks Pro, Web Design (FrontPage
2003), Publisher, Acrobat Pro, Music (Nero and CDEX), email and internet. It
will also be the main computer that will be networked with my notebook. I
use 4 printers, a scanner, wireless router and DSL.

If the system needs to reboot it will tell you. Otherwise there's no
need to reboot

While it is not absolutely required to reboot after each hardware
installation, it is not a bad idea. Windows will let you know if it has to
reboot, some installations do require it before the hardware will be fully
initialized. I hope you stuffed that Gateway with at least 1 GB of RAM.
If you're going to be running multiple applications, especially AutoCAD, you
will need a boatload of RAM. And a huge hard drive. Or, better still, two
huge hard drives.
