.LNK files please help

when i booted up my comp nothing would load so i right clicked an icon said open with that program and now all my desktop items have been attached to that program it looks like i screwed up the .lnk file system somehow can anyone offer suggestions to help

another for "file association fixes." Click his link below, then click
on XP-Fixes.
