Running XP Pro on an MSI 945G with and Intel 3.4 gig CPU. I have been using
my my dvd writer on this system but now it has dissapeared from XP doesn't
even show up under Computer Management. The drive still appears in BIOS and
can still be used as a boot disk. I don't know exactly when XP lost track of
this drive. I have recently installed OneCare, but I can not tie the two
events together. I need to be able to use the drive from windows, any
suggestions?

Drive letters can be hidden, check that drive isn't hidden. Easiest way to
check and update if needed is to get and install tweakui from ms.
