I have had a Linksys wireless network operating in my
home for over a year now, with no problem; it is still
operating properly with my sons' computer with no
problem; But my home office NW stopped working;

At this point I've verified the modem, the WAP and the
USB NWA hw are all working properly; I saw there was an
error in the driver, deleted it and went to install a new
one again. I have the Linksys disk and am installing it
properly.

Upon installation I repeatedly get an error message that
says "error ocurred during installation of this device:
the name is already in use, as either a service name or a
service display name" (Instant wireless USB NWA ver 2.5
#10)

I called Linksys and they said this is a Windows problem.

Can anyone help? I need this high speed connection vs.
the dial up one I'm using now.

Thanks,

Bob

If it shows up in Device Manager, while attached, right-click and choose
uninstall.

If it shows up in Network Connections, delete it.

Detach it.

Rename the PC (in System) and restart.

Go to Linksys and get the latest driver, and use it for the
reinstallation.
