I get a message that some links could not be found and
therefore not updated.
However, all the links seem to work fine in the document.
Is there something I am missing? why would I get this.
With about 50 links, this makes me nervous.

You could use Edit > Links to check em out. My guess is a linked
picture has moved but Word still has its embedded render copy handy to
show you something.
