links won't work

When messages in outlook express contain links (hyperlinks?) these links
will not work. The same is true when certain apps have links to websites.
They will not work and you have to copy and paste. Is there a setting I have
missed or a fix for this? Thanks for your help.

Bill,

Try this quick fix.

* Click Start > Run, type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll

* Then open IE and go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab, click
'Reset Web Settings'

* Click OK, close & reopen Outlook Express

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run
2. Type the following commands in the Run dialog box, and click OK (or hit
ENTER) after each command (noting the space between the 2 and the next letter):
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll (NB Java may not be installed on your computer and you may
receive an error)

I did the suggested steps in the answer and it fixed the problem. But, the
next time I rebooted it went back to the links not working. I retried the
suggested fix and now it will not work. This is not a big issue since I can
always copy and paste. However it is an aggravation. I did not mention I
recently reinstalled windows because of some bad files. I have dial-up so I
had a great deal of downloading . I'm pretty sure I'm current now as WinXP
home edi. SP2. I would welcome ideas and suggestions. Thanks for your time.

Hi there, better try the OE specific NG
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress&lang=en&cr=US
(Web Client)

Advise them of what you've already done, your OS etc and that you have
reinstalled WinXP.

Bill,

A couple suggestions.

1) By any chance do you have a restore point to go back to before the
registering of the files. If so, restore, then re-register. This time log
off after registering them, log back in, then restart the computer.

2) If no restore point, try re-registering the files again anyway. Then
logoff as per above step.

Drew:- Don't want to appear dense but, let me clarify re-register (all four
entries?) log off IE then log back in to IE and restart? I don't have any
good restore points.
