It seems like the last month or so when I get a link in my e-mail, when I
click on it the only thing that happens is the window "winks" briefly then
comes back to the same screen. Clicking on the link does not go thru. Any
suggestions?

Ramesh,

I clicked on that link you gave me and the information seems easy enough,
but when I tried the "resolution" I got thru 3. but the following error
message popped up in a rectangular error window "RegSvr32 - url.dll was
loaded, but the Dll RegisterServer entry point was not found. This file
cannot be registered.". Should I continue on with the rest of the resolution
suggestions, or try something else?

Yes, you're right. However, when I first started the resolution process I
followed the instructions and when it came to item 3. I typed it in just like
Q281679 said--regsvr32 url.dll then clicked OK. What came back was as I
described above. However, on the chance there was an error in the inst's I
then typed it--RegSvr32 Urlmon.dll and then "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll
succeeded" cam up.

Anyway, since my OS os XP Home I went back to the main screen and Restarted.
I then clicked on a link in one of my e-mails, but nothing happened. So I
then went thru the process again for each of the other listed files with no
response on any of them.

My next question is about verifying the registry values listed on page 2 of
the Article. How do I do it?

Hi Mac,

Have you registered the other DLLs as stated in the article? Additionally,
try this:

Open Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options
In the Programs tab, click Reset Web settings.

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Start | Run and type

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Thanks for that. I picked up your reply to Mac Man, as I have had the same
problem for a while and no other solutions have worked. But that has sorted
it. Thanks very much. Paul.
