I performed a recent XP reinstall. Since then, I cannot get links in an
e-mail to open in a browser. The link appears as usual, blue
underlined, but clicking results in no activity.

An e-mail link opens my mail client just fine.

Hi

Try this:

From Start>Run type

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Please note the space between the 2 and u.

Then open Internet Explorer and go to Tools>Internet Options>Programs and
click on 'Reset Web Settings...'. Make sure that your e-mail program is
closed before you start this procedure, then try the links again.

Is the machine fully patched at Windows Update?

Is a browser other than IE installed?

1. You click on a link and an IE window doesn't even open:

2. You click on a link and an IE window opens but it doesn't load:

Try re-registering all of the DLLs listed in this KB article...

3. Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-effect. Check in at Windows Update.
