I have my unvisited links color set to blue. The visited links color
is red. IE 6 remembers this as long as the computer is left on.

When I reboot, all links colors revert back to unvisited blue.
Changing the days of History makes no difference. I deleted all
history files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I downloaded Free History Eraser and ran it. It did no good.

Do you have any other ideas? I don't know what to do. Do I have to
reinstall Windows or something drastic to get this mess figured out?

Appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Does it appear that the History folder was deleted? (And a new one created
on restart.)

Do you have any type of "privacy" program clearing your History every time
you shut down?

Does History appear to be working, otherwise?

I just ran Free History Eraser again. It deletes the contents of the
history folder. It does not delete the history folder itself but it
appears empty.

Yes, the history works as far as keeping track of web pages visited in
past days. No problem.

It's just the visited links colors thing.

To add:

Could you give me an example of a privacy program? I don't think I
have anything like that running.

There are a number of freeware and shareware programs which will delete
cookies, history, etc automatically when the machine shuts down or starts up
or based on some other choice. You would probably know if you were using
such a program, but sometimes a program is installed and forgotten.

Try deleting the affected History folder manually:

Maybe Free History Eraser isn't deleting the History folder. I don't have
any way of checking this on XP.

Robert,
You probably have corruption in your History folder.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created
when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:

I went to the page where it talks about deleting the History folder
manually. http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

I don't understand how I log on as administrator. I have no idea what
that means. Also, after I type in the path to the history file, then
what? Somehow that is supposed to delete the folder? I don't see how
that works. The steps involved here are not clear or very well
written.
