Not really. When you find someone doing this, rename your original photo,
and replace the current photo with one that say something like:

"This web site steals bandwidth by linking to images on other web sites"

or

replace the photo with something that is in appropriate to be displayed,
etc.

What I did is I moved all my pictures over to a new file name by one letter.
I think I gained back around 1/2 gig if bandwidth a month for doing that. I
could not belive how many people were using my stuff.

What I did was simply embed our shop's name & website in the photo. Since
it was going to a competitor's site, and advertising our own... within a
couple days they figured it out and stopped linking to my photo.

If your site is hosted on an Apache / UNIX server,
check your webmaster control panel and see if they
have the "HotLink Preventor" utility.
Stops people from hot linking.

Thanks for all the responses. My last question is is there a way to tell
when this is happening other than going thru the log file line by line?

The Web Server Log is usually a comma-delimited file, which means that you
can import it into Access and then perform queries against it.

no.....if they right click and choose properties they can find the exact url of
your picture and link to it. (which means if it is on their web site, it is
referenced back to your server which "steals" your bandwidth in effect

The No right-click scripts around might stop novices, but they aren't foolproof
and can be worked around.
