Hi
We are currently writing a user manual, using text and
graphics in one document. As the text will be translated
automatically in different languages, we want to store
the graphics and the text in separate folders.
To link the graphics to the text I found two
possibilities:
Insert object {LINK}and insert graph {INCLUDEPICTURE}.
Which of the two is better in terms of document size
(insert object seems to use an enormous size despite the
switch \d), automatic actualization and the possibility
of using relative paths ?
Regards
Hans

IncludePicture is what you want. OLE linking allows you to edit the picture
in Word using the functionality of its native app, so it does carry a lot
more baggage. If you just store the graphics in a separate folder and use
Insert | Picture | From File: Link to File, you will get the IncludePicture
field.
