Linking graphics (jpeg) to document

I am working on a training manual that includes many screen shots (jpeg). I
have tried placing them in two ways. The first is copy>paste and hyperlink
to the original image. The second is copy>paste special and link to original
image. Either works for a moment; however, when I save the document and come
back my graphics are gone and a large red X is in its place. The grapic
shows it is still linked and yet it will not show in a print preview or when
I print. In addition, if I update the graphic, it is not updating the linked
graphic in the document.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?c291cHk=?=,

Where are you copying and linking from?

Normally, I would use Insert/Picture/From file and choose to link from there.
When you copy/paste with a link, Word tries to set up a link to the APPLICAT&ION
from which you're copying. And this may be getting lost once you close the
file(s).

I actually tried to Insert>Picture>From File; however, you then have to go
back to each picture and select Hyperlink. There is no link checkbox when
you do it this way. If you have a way to select that as you paste, I would
like to know but I haven't been able to find one.

In the Insert | Picture dialog, click the arrow beside "Insert" and choose
"Link to File."
