I have a heavily linked spreadsheet than I want to unlink to place on
the web. I turned off the "ask to update automatic links" option, but
then it just brings up 4 dialog boxes looking for the linked files it
can't find. I have to cancel each of them to open it.
How can I delete the links without losing any data? I just want users
to be able to open it as is.

Why don't you "Copy" and "Paste special/Values" the cells where the link
formulas are stored?
I you want to keep the original, do it in a copy of the spreadsheet and
publish that.

Thanks for your reply.

Should have mentioned that I tried that. The spreadsheets are
laboriously formatted and the formatting is not just for looks.
Someone's color coded them, I'm not sure what the code is. I'd have to
replicate that after the Paste Special, Values. That is my alternative
if the other suggestion here, which I'm about to try, doesn't work.

Looking at your recommendation again, you may have been thinking what I
finally did. When I replied above, I did the Paste Special, Values into
a new workbook, and lost all the formatting. This time, I did the Paste
Special, Values back into the original workbook (well, a copy of it).
That worked great! Thanks for the idea, sorry I botched it on my first
interpretation of your suggestion!

Indeed, I should have added the word "same" somewhere in my suggestion.
Glad you found the way to do it!
