linked music files not working reliably on another computer

I have a presentation for a Jubilee church service. It runs for about 6
minutes and has 3 music files linked, at approx slides 2, 10 and 20. The
whole presentation runs automatically and reliably on my computer.

I have transferred it to the church computer using 'Pack and go'. The
slides run correctly and the first music file starts in the correct place.
But the 2nd and 3rd music files don't play.

File was created on PowerPoint 2002, SP3.
All three music files are .wma.

It's Friday 5 pm here in NZ and the service is on Sunday 10 am. Any help
greatly appreciated.

"wma" files will always be linked (not embedded) sound files. It almost
sounds as though the first sound file was in the same folder as your
presentation when you inserted it and the other two were not. When you are
going to transport presentations that might have linked files, ALWAYS put
your files in the folder that your presentation is in, THEN insert them onto
a slide. This way as long as they end up in the same folder on another
machine, they will work.

Sounds like good advice in general, but in this case, on my original
computer, all three audio files were in the same folder. The ppt file was in
a different folder. I linked them using the pfcmedia add-in.

On the new computer, Pack and go has unpacked all 4 files to the same folder.

Any other thoughts?

Peter, can you email me the presentation and audio files? (Drop me an email
even if you can't and I'll try to walk through it with you.)

One more thought, you said you were using "Pack and Go". What happens if
you simply copy the entire contents of the presentation folder (pressie and
media files) and move them to the other computer.

Reporting back...

I decided to follow your combined suggestions, so I deleted all the links,
copied all the files into a new folder, and started again. Then I copied the
whole folder onto a cd and ran it from there. It worked perfectly, so thanks
very much for your help.

2 questions arising...

1. I used 'Pack and Go' because when I looked up Help to find out how to
playing presentations with links on another computer, that was the only
option I could find. Do you recommend staying away from that option?

2. I got it wrong on the audio files. They were mp3 files, but PFCMedia
created a second wma file in each case. This meant my folder actually had 7
files, not 4. I copied all 7 because I wasn't confident enough to change
anything at this point. But how does PFCMedia work? Do I need to transfer
all files? I read PFCMedia help, but I couldn't find anything on that aspect.

Thanks again for your help.

Peter,

As you seen PFCMedia creates a new file in the folder the presentation is
saved in. When using PFCMedia there is no reason to move the files to that
folder before inserting them, PFCMedia does it for you automatically.
