link updating

I have a link from document A to cell C3 in document B. I insert a new row
in document B. The link in document A still links to cell C3, which is now
the wrong cell (I want it to link to D3, where the information it needs has
shifted to).

Is there any way to make the link update automatically? If not, is there a
way to prompt me whenever I change the layout of a document that is linked
to by another document? Does document B know that it has been linked to, or
does only document A, the one doing the linking, know about the link?

Have document A open when you change B.
