Hello,

There is a line '_' flashing on boot. How can I solve this problem. I cannot
boot into Windows XP. It looks like the MFT is corrupt.

A flashing cursor in the top left-hand corner is often an
indication that your boot partition is not set to "active".
What is the recent history of this installation? What
hardware/software changes did you make?

You can set the partition to "active" by booting the
machine with a Win98 boot disk (www.bootdisk.com),
then running fdisk.exe.

Thanks but it looks like the MFT is corrupted. Acronis errors report say MFT
corrupted. Do you have any programs that can fix this?

I'd like to get a second opinion on that. What do you see
when you boot from your Win98 boot disk and run these
commands:

ntfsdos /L:MN
dir m:\ /s

You can get ntfsdos.exe from here: www.sysinternals.com.
