Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can limit/define disk space to the users (3) I
allow to access a shared file server on my home network ?

Thanks,

Presuming you're talking about XP and not Windows 2003, there's nothing
native that will do this, but there are third party quota management tools
out there. Dunno if any will work on XP, but you might google.

If you're talking about W2003, there is built-in quota management (it's per
user/owner, not per folder), but you'd best address W2003 questions in
microsoft.public.windows.server.general.

I'm using XP Home and found the following settings for Quotas: From
the desktop, click on My Computer / Right click on C drive / click on
properties / click on the Quota tab and go from there.

Wow, this hat is delicious!
I was clearly making an incorrect assumption :)

Hi,

I checked the properties of my drive and no "Quota" tab is present. Note
that I use XP Home edition on this file server and that my properties tabs
are: GENERAL - TOOLS - HARDWARE - NORTON - SHARING.

Is there a trick to display that "Quota" tab.

Thanks in advance,

This is where I found out where they are:

You are talking about a file server, though. My computer is not a
server, so I can't say that it will be the same as on a local disk.
Sorry I can't help more. :(

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I will go through the referenced document and provide you with an update
later. Note however that I might have used an improper terminology for the
case I am trying to solve. The computer I refered to is a spare computer used
only to store data/files. Thus, the expression I used.

Thanks,

Hi,

I have been through the document you refered to. Unfortunatly I am good at
writing scripts. I will try to find a management tool to achieve my goal. If
you can suggest any, I will be glad to try it.

Thanks again,
