Limited number of HTTP download connections?

Between various versions of Windows on various hardware I've never been able
to start more than 2 http file downloads at a time. I suppose this could be
because the servers allow only 2 connections, but I don't think I've ever
tested that possibility by downloading from several sites at once.

Is this a limitation of Windows or what? Ten years ago I used OS/2 and I
could download dozens of files at once, but that was only with ftp.

It's an HTTP spec, and the browser is being compliant.

Thanks Ron. I think I'll leave it alone so I don't get webmasters mad at
me.
