I have a DSL connection to the internet (D-Link DSL-300G) and a Linksys
wireless router that has worked flawlessly for my home network for the last
year. My workstation is connected directly to the router. My home network
seems to be working fine with print and file sharing both to and from my
laptop and workstation fully functional.

The internet connection on my laptop is as strong as ever but the connection
on my work station keeps coming up at 10Mbps with a Limited Connectivity
message. The details say that 'the Network did not assign a network address
to the computer'. I still seem to have internet access from the workstation
but slower (?) and not reliable (Page cannot be displayed ...).

I have recently updated my Norton Internet Security subscription (2006
version). I did not have any internet problems until I set up Norton User
Accounts based on my Windows Account names.

My Firewall is being managed by Norton and the Windows firewall is off.

Mikey,

some info can be found at http://winhlp.com/wxnet.htm . It's
best to fill in the form.

Thanks,

I kept digging and I think I've found the problem. Norton makes some changes
to the personal firewalls in the last step of it's installation. It looks
like the wrong network adapter was enabled during this process (could have
been me?). All appears well now. Thanks for your help!

Mikey,

thanks for reporting back! It's always good to know what
happened.
