I have a document (Word 2000) I'm updating that is
1,902kb. This will probably grow to 3,000 - 5,000kb. No
graphics are or will be included except for 1 or 2
flowcharts done in Visio. Will this document become
unstable at this size? What is the uppermost limit that
most people hit?

Thanks

Search Help for the topic 'Limits in Word'. If the document is mostly text
as you imply, you shouldn't have any problems at that size. I've worked with
documents that are up around 2500 pages happily enough.

Other users have reported documents upwards of 10,000 pages without a
problem. The file size limit is 32 MB for text only (graphics, whether
linked or embedded, aren't included in the limit). The practical limitations
will come from your system. Amount of RAM and HD size are more significant
than processor speed, but all can affect the speed of scrolling,
repagination, screen redraws, etc., in long docs.
