I recently purchased WinXP Home and installed ti on another computer that I
own after it crashe unfortunately another machine on the same network the
hard drive crash so out of stupidity I reuse the same disk because the disk
did not have the manufacturers info on it so the restore disk would not work
it is an ancient machine and is no longer under warranty. So thinking I could
use the new disk and the old key would work, but here I am and it didn't what
can I do to resaolve the problem

You're post is unclear. What exactly did you do and what is the problem?

I reused the same disk to to setup the new hard drive, not thinking, I used the same key instead of the one on the machine.( the old hard drive had a restore disk)

Ok, so you installed XP on two machines with the same product key. I'm not
sure what kind of help you're looking for. What you need to do is pretty
clear. Here are the choices.

1. Remove XP from one of the machines, or

2. Purchase another copy of XP of the same type and do a repair install
during which you would input the new product key, or

3. Purchase a generic OEM copy of XP and install that clean on one of the
systems, or

4. Contact tech support for the older machine to see if they will sell you
a recovery CD.
