Howdy. The wife's computer has been having alot pf problems lately so I
backed up her data, Fdisked and formatted her hard drive, and then
reinstalled her XP Pro. I then pulled her data back over and did the whole
SP2 and A/V thing. The computer is working OK now but when she tries to
listen to her songs that I saved, some of them will not play. They turn
orange with and ! and if you place the cursor over them you see a message
that starts "A license cannot be found for this media file." So yep, I did
not back up her license stuff. Is there any way around this? A couple of
these albums I cannot find any more and of course my wife is a little upset
with me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think so. If licenses and passwords were that easy to get
around, they wouldn't be much use...

If nothing else, should teach you and her to simply stay away from any of
that crap that comes with restrictions etc.

Sorry the reply took so long. Been laid up in the hospital. So, I should
just stop buying CDs? Alot of this stuff is oldies, blues, jazz, and
classical compilation CDs, not latest release stuff. Although my normal
drive time listening is a new rck station. Sory but I did not know that I
needed to back up a license file in Media Player. Did not used to be that
way. I generally deal with business machines.

If you purchase music via download then the content almost always
requires a license. That is not unique to Media Player. Same deal with
iTunes etc.

Is there something in my files now, that will tell ME I got the licenses I need
with the files I purchased through MusicMatch? Or is the fact that they play
correctly, my only indication? TIA... :)
