Hello!

I'm looking for a simple freeware chat server for a medium-sized LAN (15
computers). Like IRC, but internal for the LAN.
The network has a Windows 2000 server with Windows 98/XP clients.

Thanks.

You might try IRCXpro Server 1.2 Build 1538 English

I have IRCX pro installed on my computer and it IS FREE
for use of up to 10 clients. Otherwise it used to be you
payed $100 for up to 100 users, and possibly $1,000 for
the unlimited version. And their are KEYS that are provided
upon payment to open either of the latter options.

I downloaded this program several years ago so I don't
know what the current licensing details are for the program

Jive Messenger:

Was commercial, but went Open Source. It uses the Jabber XMPP protocol.
We use it at work for several dozen employees, and it works well.
