My printer is out of color ink. Is there a reasonable alternative to just
throwing it away. Ink costs more that the Wal-Mart price I paid for it.
I refilled the black cart with ink and it seems ok. Don't know what to do
with color cart since I can't see where the color tanks are.

On some printers you can refill the color inks too.
I have bad experience with that :-(

You should consider buying new printer (Not Lexmark :-)
 
You could go to office depot,staples or office max and get a universal
refill kit...In my experience with Lexmark this will give OK results for the
first refill. After that the quality and cloged heads come into play.
Kits claim several refills and If you are lucky enough to get 2 refills then
you have outsmarted Lexmark's rip-off cost of over $35.00. Here is just one
