When inserted this shows up as a hard drive rather than a device with
removable storage. Is there a way to change that?

My USB thumbdrive shows up as a hard disk, but when I see the Properties of
the drive, it says "Removable Disk". Can I know what you are trying to do?

What's the acyual problem? You haven't said it doesn't work, only that you
disagree with the wording.
When installed, it's effectively a drive - you can read to/from, write
to/from it?
Seems like a semantics disagreement, not a real problem. You KNOW what the
drive is.

Yes, you can re-name it. Right-click on it in "My Computer", choose
"rename". Whether that name will stick, next time you insert it, any-one's
guess - possibly, if in same port. Probably not, if it's a different one. If
it works, is it important?

Sincerely, Len

Yes - it works fine. However I have a 256MB Lexar Jumpdrive that gets listed
as a removable not a local drive. The only reason I asked is that I have a
specialty program that I wanted to load on this jumpdrive and the program
wants to install on a removable. Not a big deal.

Nothing yet. My older 256MB shows up as removable and the new 512 shows up
as a local drive.
