Left audio channel gone

Help!
My new PC has a AC97 intergrated sound card, and for no reason the
left channel went.. right plays fine..

I checked my speakers, and they are fine.
I then gave up, and added a SB Live, but it too has the same problem.
So the problem is deep in XP somewhere.

Can anyone advise?
I have tried searching for a solution, but its hard to know what to
search for!

Or perhaps in the PC? If it's new, exchange it - or have it serviced
under warranty.
